| Description: | Top slope of the context is slight down to the W. The soil color is light pinkish grey. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt. | |
| Notes: | 6644 is opened as the higher fill south of wall 10095, east of pier rt 6254, west of pier ft 6204 and north of pit cut 6224. We opened this context after two passes in 6640 to the south revealed that we were no longer digging inside the cut of 6224. The soil of 6640 was quite pebbley at the level it was closed and we could see this continuing north under what is now 6644. We will excavate this to the level of 6640 and if there is no change in the soil, take the entire area together. 6644 did come down on a soil change before the level of 6640, a harder redder deposit excavated as 6648. | |
