Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the E. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This context was begun on the last day of the excavation season, in an attempt to resolve the issue of the souther cut and trashy fill. We had repeatedly had trouble with the southern half of the room because we were finding trashy fill after trashy fill, overlapping each other with no clear boundary. Because it seemed that the trashy fill continued deeper for some depth, and we had already been working through the fill in lenses since the beginning of session 2, we dug the majority of the pit with the large pick ax. After digging ca. 34 cm, we were able to identify some features; plus time contraints caused us to close the context.
6662 streched from wall 10087, it was south of 'pier' RT 6273 and the 'pebble baulk' (i.e. the area south of 10095). It ran west to a cut just before structure 6422 at the grey floor. On the south it was bounded by 6421, 6426, a triangular area that had been exposed 6553 and Potenza/Boehm's 5935. The fill was a dark reddish brown and was full of tiles, rocks, sherds, bones and a fairly regular spread/number of pebbles (rounded). Three major features were uncovered and identified (see drawing):
1) A light-colored floor surface running under the fill on the NE ('pebble') baulk (84.28); 2) a darker colored floor at a slightly lower level located south of the N-S cut/pier RT and which may continue under the fill to the west in 6662 (84.22); 3) a circular bothros (84.18) in the south-center of 6662, just north of the east-end of wall 6426 and almost touching circular pit 5935. The fill inside did NOT seem different from 6662.
Along the cut (west of the grey floor) the soil (84.18) was harder and redder, but with similar inclusions. The rest of the area uncovered was difficult to interpret and is likely to be more of the dumped fill that made up 6662. We were not able to investigate these areas b/c the day ended.
