Notes: | Context 6734 is fill within a robbing trench located in the central part of the room west of the courtyard of the Byzantine house. It is within cut 6720. Fill 6734 was revealed by the removal of context 6722. Specifically, context 6734 lies in the eastern part of the room and continues under wall 6375. This indicates the same layer will be present in the courtyard although it is difficult to define in the scarp of pit 6377 on the other side of wall 6375. The soil is mixed with some dark reddish brown clayey silt and some dark brownish yellow clayey silt. The excavation of context 6734 also showed that it continued to the west, and its removal came down on the tops of the curb stones. With the excavation of context 6734, cut 6720 finally became well defined with a mostly rectangular profile set on an E-W orientation. At the western end of 6734 a block came to light running under wall 5724 indicating it continues to the west. This curb is now labeled structure 6738. | |
