Description:   Top slope of the context is uneven. The soil color is light brownish grey. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is well sorted. It is silt.
Notes:   6901 is an ash deposit against and under wall 5403. Scant pottery and one coin were found in it. We stopped upon hitting some large animal bones and upon realizing that 6901 goes beneath a reddish layer above it. We decided to first excavate another ash layer, 6906, overlieing part of the reddish layer to the west of 6901.
It will be interesting to compare the water sampling form the other ash deposits 6906, 6917, and 6926.
After we dated the pottery, 6901 and the other ash layers (6906, 6917, 6926) turned out to be Hellenistic and were dug before later layers.
