Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark brownish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   10.4.2012
More large animal bones are in the inclusions than in 646. Thanasis noted the fact that many large pots (either lekanoi or stew pots) have been coming out of this room's fills and especially in this context in the southwest corner. There is also a lot of tile. Not as much iron as 646 though. Two samples were taken for flotation.
11.4.2012
Excavation continued, exposing a sloping surface of harder soil dotted with limestone and having an ashy aspect. Rocks/ cobbles in the 690 fill resemble the limestone boulders in the underlying layer, and possibly rolled into the pit filled by 690 from the higher elevations of level 650. 690 appears to extend with little change to the north and south of well 671.
Thanasis also points out that the same fill is visible in the scarp under wall 365, so this same context likely extends into the room to the south and predates wall 365.
After continuing excavation, the concentration of large faunal material is localized mainly in the southwest corner, in the top 20 cm of the deposit, though faunal material is found in smaller concentrations throughout the context. One more flotation sample was taken from this concentration for ocmparison.
