Stratum:   the soil is firm, sandy, silt, fine grained, with ceramic sherds, stone, shell, and rooftile fragments. The stones are mostly sub-rounded and angular coarse pebbles with some cobbles. These inclusions make up ca. 15% of the soil.
Description:   The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This context is in the southern portion of the room north east of the courtyard of the Byzantine house. The area was last excavated in the 1960's and was recently uncovered from the dump. The nature of the upper deposits remains unclear, due to the unknown amount of pressure/walking on them since their exposure. This context was taken in order to bring the top of the exposed area down to clear contexts. This context appears to be a thin lamina of soil above a surface, which is under it and extends north. This context was also over a foundation trench for wall 5741, whose context is 7054.
