Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the N. The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This context is located in the central area of the ‘pithos’ room o f Room F E-half. It was cut to the N, E, and W by wide trenches, and to the S by a narrow foundation trench. It was located under a number of clay floor surfaces. Since it was such a compact surface, this may have been a compacted earth floor. Inclusions included chunks of grayish white clay similar to that found in floors above, and a ceramic loom weight. This might also be an ephemeral succession of beaten earth floors. A martyr was left in the NW corner to protect the context of the pithos pit’s fill. The depth of this fill does suggest a large leveling fill, rather than a beaten earth floor. This context also was the fill of two post holes (7179 and 7181).
