Lot:   Lot 2010-050
Stratum:   15% mostly fine and medium pebbles, angular spherical and tabular, many boulders and cobbles. Two large intact pieces of mudbrick, lots of roof tile fragments, some almost complete.
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the S. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This context is a fill in a pit like structure in the north-east of Room E. Above it were two fills, one with similar soil and inclusions, and another that was a rubble fill. It abuts wall 5341 to the E and is truncated by cut 7260, a pit or well. The north and west boundaries of this fill are defined by two walls that were burried in the same cut as this fill (7294), a wall of structure 7301 to the north and a wall of structure 7301 to the west. There were a large number of large stones and roof tile fragments, some of which were nearly complete, in this fill. There were also two complete mudbricks. These building materials suggest that this cistern was filled with the rubble of some structure. After excavation, however, we found no remains of a floor surface, so this does not appear to be a cistern. A great amount of mendable pottery was recovered from this context, including many large sherds and complete vessels.
