Notes:   This structure is a wall running E-W, partially robbed out in the Frankish and Early Modern periods. A small portion is preserved between ca. 257.50 E and 258.40 E, and a group of stones laid against the western face of wall 540 may be its eastern end. The eastern end of the robbing trench is truncated by the west baulk of Nezi field, so its full western extent is unknown.

As fill 798 was removed, more of wall 747 was exposed to the west of what was visible immediately under 744 on the west side of the area. This east-west wall is made up of large limestone blocks with interspersed tiles. Several courses can be seen preserved in the section as seen from the western balk of Nezi Field. Likewise, after the removal of fill 798 and the assigning of Cut 809, the foundation trench for the original construction of the wall, it was clear that the wall height preserved was over 1.5 m. The relationship between the western side of the robbing trench (pulled out as fills 740 and 749) and the eastern side of the robbing trench (pulled out as fills 759, 766, 733, etc.) should be explored in session 3 when the area between the two halves (called 776 in session 2 but left unexcavated) is excavated.
