Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   After the removal of 539, and 538; 773, a dark fill layer was exposed, mainly laying on the central part of where 773 was. On the east and west of 773, a reddish layer was exposed and it seems to continue under 773 as well. Stretches of the reddish layer are scattered throughout the trench, but no context has yet been assigned to it, until we better understand the relationship of the red layer with the rest of the context.
25 May 2012: After group discussion, we are equating 778 and 779 within the Harris matrix. They are both dated to the 11th c. npd by pottery, and 778 was located immediately above 779. 778 extended slightly further to the west, which allows us to connect it to the complex series of fills in the southwest corner of our area. - RM
