Stratum:   soft yellowish brown sandy silt with 15-20% inclusions: angular, subrounded, and rounded medium and large pebbles
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the NW. Bottom slope of the context is slight down to the NWThe soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   The next disturbance in the area north of the clay floor which we must remove is a deposit to the NE of B77. Billy began at about 10:00 on 08 May. This deposit was but by B77, and thus is earlier than it. On the south edge where it meets the clay floor the floor disappears under it. We will continue to dig this basket until we find the clay floor's surface which it covers.
When he reaced the bottom of this deposit, Billy found another flat clay surface. Billy also found a coin in this deposit. Closer to the clay floor, we startd digging up a greater amount of tiles. Even closer to the floor the soil became much darker.
In the end, we failed to find the finterface proving that this layer didoverlie the clay floor, and Bill even began digging under the surface of the floor itself.
Alicia believes that the darker soils that started coming up is similar to that dug in B77, and she remains convinced that B79 did overlie the floor; thus, Bill must have accidentally destroyed the interface while digging.
It should be noted that this cut joins up with the trench dug for B77. If it turns out that there is any pottery from 77 (or the basket under it which will be dug) that will be saved or sent to mending, B79 may contain pieces that will join with other pieces from these two baskets. However, snce B77 cuts B79, I find this unlikely.
