Description:   Top slope of the context is moderate down to the NW. Bottom slope of the context is moderate down to the NWThe soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   After finishing B84 we decided to excavate B85. Thanasis and Andreas were the pickmen.
At first B85 only yielded small bone fragments as the excavation progressed many more and larger fragments of bone including complete long bones and vertebrae (possibly from bos) were recovered. Most of the complete long bones and vertebrae came from the W 1/2 of B85.
After completing the first stratum of B85 the workmen better defined B85's western boundary and then began excavating a second pass. Soon after this we filled our third box of bone.
With the removal of the second pass of B85 2 new contexts have appeared in the extreme NE 1/4 of the excavation area.
The southern 1/2 of the excavation area slopes under B85. The removal of B48 exposed the current surface of the southern 1/2 of the excavation area which has B70 (the cut of the fill=B68) cut into it.
We finished B85 on 10/5/07 and revealed a total of 4 new contexts (see bottom plan for B85). At this point we will discuss how the NW and NE 1/4s of the excavation area south of the EW wall's construction trench relate to the NW and NE 1/4s of the excavation area north of the EW wall's construction trench.
