Stratum:   50% small-large irregular pebbles - rounded spherical - subrounded angular
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the E. The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   Soil is harder than surrounding soil.
This context is the fill in the cut and around the blocks of the wellhead. The soil on the south side was much lighter than that on the w, which is quite red. The context reveals bedrock on N, E, and S sides but it is cut into the red soil on the west. A coin was found at 81,235 on the east side of the bedrock cut.
The cut itself is made into the bedrock except on the west side where it was cut into the red soil (Which eventually revealed bedrock) which was then redeposited into the cut. This I sthe same soil into which context 186. This reddish soil is deeper under the well block that is in situ. We will not remove the soil that is under the wellhead block. There are two circular cuttings on the west side that are likely postholes for a wheelbarrow to get stone out of the well (see cut sheet 187).
