Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark brownish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   Once 291 was removed, we were able to see a rectangular cutting (.10 x .69 m) running along the inner edge of one of the blocks of the east wall. Thannasis and Kostas disagreed as to whether the soil had changed, but because the soil filled this cutting, we thought the cutting may have made a cut into the soil below wall 288. Had this been the case, 294 would have been divided into two deposits (one inside the cut at the north, the other the rest of the soil at the south). But upon further investigation we realized that all the soil was the same and that there was no cut. Therefore the cutting in the wall was made at some earlier point and then covered by 294.
