Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1110
Context:   335
Date:   2016/04/11
Lot:   Lot 2016-017
Stratum:   Orangeish/yellowish brown.
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is well sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We open this context to continue to remove the fill layers underneath the pebble surface removed in context 329. This soil is characterized by a higher clay content than the fill above it, though it remains primarily a sandy silt. In addition, there are many charcoal inclusions. We uncover a portion of a lime (?) floor in the SW edge of the this context (and seems to extend further west beyond our area). In the rest of the context, the earth is firmly packed with some flat-lying sherds -- perhaps where the lime floor material itself has disappeared? There is a large root near the center of the context, which probably disturbed part of the surface. We plan to compare the elevation of this surface with the area on the other side of the Broneer Sondage (cut 336), assuming we find it there as well.
