Stratum:   c.50% inclusions, medium to large stones (10-20 cm) and roof tiles predominate in upper portion of deposit, decreasing percetage with depth
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the E. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is well sorted. It is clayey sand.
Notes:   11/4/16
We begin removing the cobbles from the area of the deposit, starting in the NW corner of the cut area. The stones remain approximately the same size as in the above deposits (330 and 332). The soil is slightly darker, although this is in part because it is moister. Roof tiles continue throughout, and there is a couple of pieces of marble.
12/4/16
We continue removing deposit 337. The concentration of large cobbles and rooftiles continues, although there is also a larger amount of pottery further down as well. Further down, the soil becomes wetter and the density of stones and tiles decreases. There is some carbon in the soil. The deposit ends approximately 50 cm below the top of the toichobate. It lies on top of a dense clayey matrix which does not contain large stones (at least on its surface) and has a great deal of imbedded carbon. The removal of deposit 337 also reveals that the interior of the wall blocks in the NE corner of the room were cut curved rather than flat/squared. This is especially true for the second course down. The darkest soil in the NE corner may be a foundation trench (Panos).
