Stratum:   20% medium angular spherical pebbles, 5% cobbles to coarse pebbles
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the S. The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   characteristics: 34 is looser than 35
This context seems to sit directly on top of bedrock, into which the well is cut. It was seperated from 33 by the presence of bedrock. 34 abuts 33, the possible robbing trench. We are digging to the south to determine the extent of the soil change above the bedrock.
There is a small pocket of cement like stones towards the southeast edge of the context and the soil is slightly looser.
This context was begun looking for the robbing trench of the N-S, w wall, of shop VI. It was slightly overdug into the area of the clayey context 35 on the N side. The E edge of the possible RT was found and folowed to the S by removing this context that was distinctly different from the soft brown pebbly fill of the possible RT. The division between 34 and 35 was not clear but the distinction was made based on what was beneath and the cut of the possible RT. [N.B.: context 36 is an extention to the west to find the W side of the RT]. At the south end was found a complete profile of a ???? Lt Sig plate on top of the soft soil below. It is likely that this context is part of the large levelling operation below the mosaic and above robbing ????actions of the walls. There was no clear boundary/continuation to the E so the context was stopped arbitraily at the N-S wall block.
