Notes:   Cleaning the parched top layer of soil 353 was the first action we took in the trench. Initially we did not assign a context number to this layer on Guy's advice-- he didn't expect us to find anything. The pottery reading proved him incorrect, however-- among other interesting finds were a terracotta nose and a Middle Neolithic sherd. We therefore decided to assign this layer a context number. Our description of the soil is from memory and so it may be not be entirely accurate, though we remember clearly that the soil was very parched from exposure.
