Context: | 358 | |
Date: | 2016/04/13 | |
Stratum: | light yellowish brown compact silty sand; some marble pieces
Description: | Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is moderately sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes: | We open this context to remove the pebble cement surface west of the well that was revealed underneath Context 350. Since there was a bit of brown fill on top of this surface, 350 and 358 are distinct layers. The pebble cement is completely removed and we save a large sample chunk. The soil within is sandy and yellowish brown. One extra scraping after the removal of the surface reveals a compact brown layer with charcoal inclusions. There didn't seem to be a sign yet of the yellow clay floor found to the east (see Context 357 notes; later removed as part of Context 380), but after Context 366 is removed it seems that this same brown fill with charcoal inclusions is revealed -- in addition, the closing elevations for 358 and 366 are the same, 81.61.
