Notes:   14/4/2016
We begin to remove the fill from the eastern of the two pits abutting the N wall of the room. This pit is partially truncated by cut 334 on its eastern edge.
There is a relatively high concentration of pottery in this deposit, including a whole (mendably) bowl (C-2016-7). We collect the pieces of this bowl separately in a box, but still send it to Pietri with the basket of pottery for washing and sorting.
There is a small amount of animal bone and shell in the fill. The amount of weathering and corrosion on different bones indicates that the soil filling the pit may have come from multiple places originally.
The bottom of the fill goes below the level of the bottom of cut 334. In this area, the bottom of the circular pit is revealed in full rather than cut square on the eastern side. This circular cutting cuts into the material exposed at the bottom of 337.
There is a large amount of wood charcoal in the matrix in small pieces. We keep the largest example in the small finds.
