Description:   Top slope of the context is uneven. The soil color is light brownish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   characteristics: 43 is looser than 24, 35
Deposit 43 had a looser soil than surrounding contexts. It appears a cut was made and this soil was deposited within it. The cut (45) / deposit (43) intersect what may be the cut of the foundation or robbing trench of the ancient E-W wall. The bottom of the deposit was discovered approximately 30 cm down - the end was a sharp boundary with rocks and bedrock. A cut form (45) has been recorded to document the sharp slope and flat base of the cut. The soil was consistent throughout. A significant number of tesserae and glass were unearthed in the excavation of the deposit, and thus may indicate a Roman date contemporaneous with the destruction of the mosaic.
This context is likely a cut made into the EW robbing trench (context __) and the NS robbing trench (context _16_) for the Late Roman Wall. It also seems to cut into context 42 to its south.
