| Description: | Top slope of the context is slight down to the SE. The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is moderately sorted. It is silty sand. | |
| Notes: | After (mostly) reaching bedrock/stereo on the side E of the Broneer Sondage in 4R, we move back to the W side to begin the removal of the fill overlaying the bedrock here. This fill appeared pinkish brown on the surface (see context 416 notes), but once we begin to excavate, it is mostly yellowish brown, with some pinkish and orange patches. There are lost of pebbles and small/crumbled rock inclusions. From the sieve, other finds include some bone and small metal pieces. This fill is also characterized by very small ceramic inclusions-- there are a few larger pieces but most are very small. We come down on a harder fill, which we decide to take as a separate context.
