| Description: | Top slope of the context is gradual down to the N. The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is very soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silt. | |
| Notes: | we began our excavation of 1R with this context, a small strip of soil on top of the rocky fill of the west foundation trench, near the southwest corner of the room. After removing 503 we hope to clarify the relationship between the foundation trench and the soil east of it; he is not sure whether the foundation trench cuts 497 or vice versa. Panos thinks that the trench cuts 497, but he is not entirely sure based on soil. The first buckets of soil in this context were much more grey than brown, which we attribute to parching from exposure. After removal of 503 panos is still uncertain whether the foundation trench cuts 478 or vice versa. | |
