Description:   The context shape in plan is irregular". The top break of the cut is varies. The sides of the cut are stepped. The break at the base of the cut is varies. The base of the cut is flat. Truncation: 301, 506.
Notes:   The NW side of this cut is cut into a deep rocky fill that appears to go down to bedrock. The SE is cut into the bedrock, with a flattened step before it reaches the bottom. The bottom of the cut is soil--the same rocky fill cut by the NW side of the cut.
The bedrock in the SE seems to be cut even further down than the soil bottom of this cut. Perhaps the original cut forming the bedrock steps was made soley in bedrock and included the vertically cut bedrock in the NW of the trench. That cut would then be filled and reopened at some point, exposing the steps in the SE, but not the bedrock in the NW, nor going down as far as the original cut went.
When we originally drew this cut, we included the highest bedrock step in the SE, but we realized that it would be better to define this cut by the area filled by 576, i.e. the second bedrock step in the SE and the cut in the rocky fill in the NW. The whole bedrock cutting (including all 3 steps and the vertical cut in the NW) will be taken out as a separate cut at the end of excavation.
