Description:   Lid for chafing dish, with flaring convex walls, conical knob handle with slightly convex top, hollow interior. Similar to C-1933-548.
Decoration:   Brown glaze on exterior. Knob with incised cross on top; ridge on upper part of stem and on body just under stem, with incised zigzag lines below, and set of 3 wavy lines lower.
Material:   Reddish yellow clay with few small and medium rounded spherical and tabular red, white and gray inclusions. Frequent small rounded spherical and angular platy voids.
Munsell Color:   5YR 6/8 (reddish yellow)
Condition:   Fragment. Single frgt., preserving complete knob and approx. 1/8 body.
Period:   Middle Byzantine (802-1058 AD)
Chronology:   Middle to Late Byzantine
