Description:   Cyma kantharos with ring foot, flat resting surface and nippled convex undersurface, with moulded exterior of outturned bottom and ridge running above it, giving appearance of a very low stem foot. Globular body with a small, everted and tapered lip. Vertical strap handle with rectangular thumb rest attaching to just below lip and upper body.
Decoration:   West Slope style with vertical reeding in lower body, except under handles inscribed with an X. Two sets of horizontal groove bands, a single band at lower and a double band at upper handle attachment levels. Inscribed running ivy between groove and reeding. Black glaze all over, except for resting surface and stem painted with red paint.
Material:   Fine very pale brown clay with rare fine black and sparkling inclusions.
Munsell Color:   10YR 8/4 (very pale brown)
Condition:   Complete profile. Numerous joining frgts., preserving foot, 1/2 body, 2/3 lip, top 1/3 of one handle. Black glaze preserved in parts.
