Description:   Chafing dish with straight to convex walls and a rounded flaring lip with a small, high flange on the inside; a bowl-shaped section is set into the upper part of the interior
Decoration:   Green to light olive brown (2.5Y 5/6) glaze on exterior and interior; on exterior, just below the lip is a raised, molded animal (a deer?) whose head is depicted frontally and body in profile; it has large, pointed ears ending on the rim, and a long snout protruding outward from the vessel. Its eyes and nostrils, on top of the snout, are outlined and represented by small punctured holes; the mouth is marked by a large hole pierced through the pot; it is galloping to the left and has a small body, decorated also with small punctured holes in a ring around a faint incised circle and a central puncture; to the left and right, background details feature the same perforated decoration surrounded by vertical striations, and separated by short horizontal incisions.
Compare to C-36-500 a,b, -503, -604, C-37-1811 (Corinth XI, p. 179 nos. 9-12, pl. 1), but see also see two covers, C-35-19 and C-34-559 (Corinth XI, p. 182, nos. 34 and 35, pl. 3), whose decoration more closely resembles this.
Material:   Reddish yellow clay with frequent medium red, and large, angular, tabular to spherical gray and brown pebbles, and rare very large white inclusions

Condition:   Fragment. Interior dish surface missing below rim, chipping of exterior glaze on the face and leg of the animal
