Title:   LATE HELLADIC IIIC KRATER

Description:   Krater. Flat slightly concave base. Convex body straightens to outward thickening squared rim. Two large horizontal handles attached below rim. FS 281 or 282.
Decoration:   Exterior polished with banded decoration. Three horizontal bands around base, one pair of bands between base and mid-body, three bands at mid-body, one band at rim. On larger fragment, the decorative zone between handles shows to right of handle a sea anemone (FM 27) depicted as a filled oval with four attached loops and fish? (FM 20) as a long rectangle with concentric semi-circles fill with fringe on short end and wing-like tasseled projection filled with arcing lines. On smaller fragment, the decorative zone has a stemmed spiral (FM 51) and a spiral with concentric arc fill. Handle has a splash of paint at each attachment point and the back is painted solid. Interior is monochrome.
Material:   Fine clay with fair amount of large pieces of grit
Munsell Color:   Surface 7.5 YR 7.5/4 (pink) to 5 YR 6.5/6 (reddish yellow), Core 3.75 YR 6.5/8 (light red/reddish yellow), Paint 2.5 Yr 4-5/8 (red)
Condition:   Complete profile. 18 joining fragments and 3 other joining fragments preserve 1/2 of base and body, 1/3 rim and 1 handle
