Description: | Low bowl (alabastron shaped). Flat base. Body rounded, squat globular, short flaring neck and flaring rim. Handle restored as vertical, flat handle running from shoulder to widest diameter. Furumark shape 17: squat jar with one vertical handle, #87 of LH IIB | |
Decoration: | thick creamy buff slip; decoration in fine lustrous red-brown paint. Rim painted inside and out; neck painted on outside. Main zone (handle zone) has wavy band on bottom (band is thick, wavy on top and stright on bottom); chief motif is sacral ivy pattern with double curved stem. Between each pair of ivy leaves is a wavy line which comes down from a "m" shaped line along the base of the neck. Lower body has a pair of parallel horizontal bands.
