Description: | Palmette antefix with back smooth and thickening to join with horizontal calypter. Sides scalloped to fit design on front face. Front face pyramidal in upper section, widens in lower section. | |
Decoration: | Wide red-painted band outlines edge of antefix between front and back face, with red paint dripping down the back face; front face has both moulded and painted decoration in dark blue, red and white. Moulded 11-leaf palmette with thin convex drooping leaves painted white on a dark blue background; diamond shaped heart painted red, connected with a thin line to a smaller red-painted diamond between white painted S-shaped tendrils with the inner spirals terminating in red painted bosses. Filling ornament below the tendrils painted red. Subsidiary white-painted spirals going out and around along side edges. Painted decoration similar to FA 414, drooping leaves similar to FA 96. | |
Material: | Coarse buff clay with common large to very large black and red mudstone spherical angular inclusions, spherical angular lime inclusions, and few small voids. | |
