| Description: | Terracotta solid mouldmade standing female with wide flaring polos with slanting convex top, short rounded band of hair frames forehead, long flat locks flow from polos to shoulders, waves marked by horizontal ridges, oblong triangular face, wide triangular nose, big wide flat lips, thin neck, narrow sloping shoulders, rt arm held tight to side, bent at elbow with forearm held across breast holding a bird?, lt arm held tight to side bent almost at right angle at elbow with forearm across belly, lt hand holding round fruit?. Wears peplos with low curving overfold with straight edge across thighs then drooping down on sides, long vertical folds fall from breasts to overfold, short diagonal incisions on attached clay denote rt sleeve below rt elbow, looping fold of sleeve drapes from lt elbow to middle of forearm, and long uneven vertical folds fall straight from below overfold to hem to pool over to of feet. Rt foot larger than lt, rt toes curled over base slightly, and feet rest flat on projecting rectangular base. Frontal mould with large depression on back with cut marks visible. Retooled and cut at overfold and sleeves. Similar to KT4-156 and most similar to KT4-43 (Corinth XV.2 Class X p. 92 no. 19 pl. 15). Standing Kore with Dove and Fruit Type. | |
