Description:   Head of Dionysos with right forearm over head in position of "Apollo Lykeios" of Praxiteles. Very cold hard work which Johnson ascribes to 2nd c. AD. Roughly finished on top and back. Proper left side of face heavier than right: left eye lower and more prominent, mouth (which is slightly open) fuller on left. Eyes cut very harshly: both lower and upper lids have a sharp ridge at edge, while a deep groove is cut around top of eye down past outer corner. Underside of chin very full. Thick hair is parted in cenetr, confined around brow by a band, then drawn back and looped up at base of neck. A wreath of grapes clusters and vine leaves, cut to stand free of hair in front, crowns head. Locks just behind ears hung down on shoulders. Hand above head rough finished with chisel.

Findspot Description:   8m. north of highest martyra about 4m. deep where pavement was broken off.
