In relief on front surface are two human legs, from knees to ankles, where they end cleanly; 2 small horizontal pin holes on either side of both knees, D00.007, 1 on rt. ankle. Back of trunk roughly worked; entire surface poorly preserved. Johnson identified these as the legs of Marsyas, about to be flayed by Apollo; more likely to represent greaves, hung on the tree as part of a military trophy. | |
