Description:   Standing female w/ weight on r. leg, l. leg bent & pushed out to l. side; l. arm bent 90 deg at elbow, extended forward and slightly to side; r. arm apparently hung straight down, slightly forward and away from body; both forearms attached with dowels. Wears Ionic chiton w/ buttoned sleeves, which reaches top of feet in front and ground in back; over this Doric peplos, belted w/ doubled cord knotted in front, higher than natural waistline, no kolpos is formed, long overfold ending c. 0.25 above knees; scalloped edge of peplos visible on proper r; clasped on r. shoulder, crosses under l. arm and l. breast; hem of peplos falls about midway between knees & ankles, w/ smooth hem; horizontal press-folds and weights at corners of peplos; clear plastic distinction between light material of chiton and heavy peplos; wears yoke-type sandals, loops visible under sides of feet, high soles (2.5 cm thick), front of soles trapezoidal; rasp marks visible on drapery, back more roughly worked, skin of feet highly polished; high-quality Roman copy of 5th c BC original (frag. of cast found at Baiae, from rt. arm).
Material:   Fine-crystalled white marble with heavy, micaceous veining
Condition:   Missing parts. Missing head, which was inserted, and both arms below elbows, which were attached; preserved surface in good condition, with minor chips and staining; front corner of plinth broken in front of figure's l. foot.
