Title:   EARLY HELLADIC II SAUCEBOAT

Description:   Sauceboat with small ring foot, convex undersurface. Ovoid body with maximum diameter near median, inturned fine lip, which rises at one end into tall narrow spout with flaring, pointed tip. Horizontal loop handle set at angle on upper body opposite spout. Class B II (Glazed, completely coated ware) according to Blegen (Zygouries). Almost symmetrical with thin firm walls and a raised base, a horizontal loop handle, and a long narrow spoutflaring out at the end with high-pointed tips. The spout, the underside of which is rather rough, has a much greater rise from the rim than that of Z226. (Blegen, Zygouries, 90)
Decoration:   Slipped over all, fired red in, black for most of exterior going to red at tip of spout.
Material:   Moderately fine buff clay, exploded voids.
Condition:   Complete or intact. Five joining fragments. Complete, excepts for small chips which are RIP. Slip worn.
