Description: | Shallow bowl fragment marked on its side near the base by the impression of a seal of circular form. The circular labyrinthine pattern of the seal is similar to that impressed on a fragment of terracotta from an EH deposit at Asine. The impression must have been made while the clay was soft before the vase was fired, but its meaning on the exterior of this shallow bowl is not so easy to explain. If it’s a potter's mark it is a most unusual one, as no other similar example was found. (Blegen, Zygouries, pg 107) | |
