Description:   Open shaped vessel, or closed shaped vessel treated as open, but not enough preserved to securely identify. Most likely a Shoulder-handled Tankard (Rutter form III, type 2) with flaring rim, plump piriform body; two verticle strap handled rising from shoulder and attached at bottom or slightly above point of max. d. (not preserved), flat base (not preserved) (Rutter 1995, Lerna 3, pp. 283–284 ). Similar to Blegen 1921, Korakou, pp. 9–10, fig. 10 right. Other possible identifications: Wide-mouthed Jar (Rutter form XXI, type 2 or 3) or Bass Bowl (Rutter form XII, type 2).
Decoration:   Dark-on-Light Pattern Painted (Blegen's Ware C, class 1): dark brown Rutter pattern IVA Horizontal Short Diagonal Bars, similar to motif 10 but only two bars (Rutter 1995, Lerna 3, p. 510) framing above (possibly)Rutter pattern V, variant on motif 11 (Ruttern 1995, Lerna 3, p. 526), on pale brown field.
Condition:   Fragment. Single frgt., preserving part of rim and neck or upper body.
