Description:   Stone pestle. Cylindrical, but tapers inwards toward the middle, creating a slightly concave profile. Nearly flat ends. Slight abrasians to ends are possible signs of use-wear. Nearly circular in section (diam. Varies slightly 0.0265-0.0285 at ends). Blegen identifies these as characteristic household implements throughout the Early Helladic period, with examples from Korakou, Gonia, Yiriza in the Corinthia, as well as Tomb 338 at Chalandriane on Syra in the Cyclades. Material appears to be selected for its color or veining. Though the shape is similar to that of teracotta spools, these are more likely to be pestles, perhaps for powdering colors in small palettes (Blegen 1928, p. 197-198).
Decoration:   none beyond the apparent choice of veined stone
