A wide band divided by series of three vertical strokes into 16 metopes filled by birds and 4-petalled flowers alternating, the flowers each with four auxiliary straight dotted petals; in the field, horizontal and vertical rows of dots and zigzags. Above, to rim, a zigzag with three horizontal lines above and below. On bottom, inside three rings, a flower with 4 hatched petals; stars in field between ends of petals.; b) Lid: flat round lid decorated with series of three narrow, one wide glazed band, alternating. Spiked knob handle with narrow glazed bands.; ; Reddish buff clay, dull rather metallic black glaze." On upper body, three metopes: two long-legged, long-necked water birds facing and in center an 8-petalled rosette, the petals hatched; dot rosettes in field. Outside lip, between three black bands above and three below, a row of dots. Inside lip, three black bands, below, unglazed. Horizontal bands on handles and St. Andrew's cross.; ; Buff slip; brownish-black glaze much peeled in one side." On upper surface of lip, five series of short horizontal strokes. Inside, three black bands; below, unglazed. On handle, horizontal black bands, and a St. Andrew's cross. Wide zone divided by cross-hatched bands between vertical lines into square and narrow metopes, alternating. In squares, swastikas with linked dotted circles in their arms; in oblongs, checker- board pattern. Above, narrow black band, and on flange, two. On bottom, three narrow rings with interrupted frieze outside; wavy line, dotted on both sides; dot rosettes inside and outside hollows; dotted cross inside three narrow concentric rings.; b) Lid: shaped like an inverted shallow plate. Around rim: parallel stroke series alternating with St. Andrew's crosses, three narrow bands, row of dots, three bands, row of dots, three bands. On flat center part, which has a hole in the middle, three horses, entirely glazed except bands and linked dots on chests and necks, rows of dots between lines down manes, spine, and tails. In exergue front and back, between swastikas, parallel stroke series.; ; ; Buff slip, glaze black to reddish."
