Description:   The soil color is dark brownish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey sand.
Notes:   20/4/16
We begin to remove the clayey layer from the southern end of the room, whose top is level with that of 424. This layer is similar in composittion to other fill layers in this area--rocky, relatively loose soil, mixed prehistoric and historic pottery, obsidian/chert tool fragments. This context is also cut into by Broneer's trenches on three sides (E, S, W), and there is therefore the potential for later/modern contamination.
There is a complete vessel in the eastern portion of the context (cookpot shape?). There is a bright blue pigment on the interior of the base. We take this vessel (1 box) to the museum rather than to Pietri (C-2016-5).
The bottom of this context is marked by a slightly more consolidated layer of soil, which appears to be of a similar composition to 456. The margin between this southern area and the central area of the room remains the same, marked by a change of color in the soil.
The bone is all large pieces, and relatively sparse--sheep/goat present. Very minimal carbon. There are a lot of small pieces of cement in the sieve. Some of these pieces are likely pieces of bedrock (very crumbly sandstone?) that is starting to appear in this area.
In situ vessel top (C-2016-5) : H 81.266, E 353.566, N 1087.062; bottom H 81.168, E 353.581, N 1087.151
