Reddish fill in five circular cutting in bedrock, considered by the excavators to have been one deposit. Fill was disturbed in later periods, probably by construction ... 7th c. B.C, with intrusions ... pithoi. Deposit was found 4-5m ...

Originally a well but after it had been in use for a short time the shaft was partially filled in and the upper part widened to form a large cistern.
