I, youthful warrior (right forearm and hand, body from the waist down missing) standing to right, wearing a high-crested Corinthian helmet pushed up on his head and a cloak over his shoulders. On his left arm is his round shield seen from the inside, and in front of him is the shaft of his spear, presumably held in his left hand. His right arm is extended. The rim of the shield is incised (compass-drawn) but not where it is overlapped by the youth. A, combat: right leg (greaved) and sharply bent left knee of a warrior fallen to right. Beside his outstretched leg are the lower left leg and foot of his attacker and, at the far left, the toes of his right foot. Below, stopped-maeander pattern with cross-squares. Preliminary sketch. Relief contour. Dilute glaze: muscles.

Manner of the Pistoxenos Painter (ARV2 one 576, 5; ARV2 863, 5).
