Title:   3rd fill of pit south of Unit 2 Room A
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   100
Date:   2014/04/15
Lot:   Lot 2014-021
Stratum:   5% small angular pebbles, ceramics, bone and shell
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light brownish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We are working on the 3rd fill of the pit. This change was arbitrary. We are making changes about every 0.30m. It is too difficult to see changes, but it appears that the soil has not changed. There are fewer large boulder inclusions and nearly no tile. There is a high frequency of roots growing out of the wall of the cut. There also appears to be some carbon flakes in the soil. The high concentration of animal bones and the presence of cooking wares in the fill seem to support a refuse dump. We have been finding coins in the sieve (currently 3) and one from the pit itself (COIN 2014-28: 101.38, 1063.03, 83.97).
Later notes 16/4/14 (SMK):
We closed this deposit when we reached the bottom of the pit, which was also around the 0.30m change that would have been made. The bottom of the cut was clear to see as the soil is more reddish, harder packed and with fewer inclusions.
