Stratum:   Fine and medium, subangular, spherical and tabular pebbles, small, subangular cobbles, ceramic tile fragments, pottery, bone.
Description:   Top slope of the context is uneven. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty clay.
Notes:   This is the fill beneath fills 1004 and 1013, and skeleton 1012 in Grave 2016-08. Once skeleton 1012 had been excavated Kostos observed more bone protruding from the south scarp of Grave 2016-07, beneath where skeleton 1012 was located. The first pass across the area contained by cut 1009 revelaed four large concave ceramic tiles, face down, at the east end. The west tile is greenish yellow indicating it was poorly fired. The tiles are almost arranged in a cross like pattern. The tiles were designated structure 1016 and removed. However, during their removal, more tiles were revealed beneath the western tile that extend to the west into the west scarp of cut 1009. For this reason we closed context 1015 and also cut 1009. In the removal of the tiles, we also found the top of a skull to the north of the most eastern tile of the structure indicating another burial to the east.
