Context: | 1019 | |
Date: | 2016/06/09 | |
Stratum: | fine and medium subangular and angular spherical and tabular pebbles, tile fragments
Description: | Top slope of the context is slight down to the S. The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes: | As we excavated context 1018, Kostos revealed the western portion of a grave cut for a burial lying under structure 1016. However, there was a thin layer of fill over the cut. The fill extended to the north to where there was fill soil from beneath structure 1010 that had not yet been removed. The marble fragments that were included in 1018 did not extend into this fill (1019). Thus, I think that the 1019 fill adjacent to the pier (920), might be the same as the fill removed in 1017 near the pier. The cut mark was fully uncovered in this context and belongs to Grave 2016-09.
