This fill is darker and has more large inclusions, expecially tile, than the layer of fill above. There may be a cut, along the walls, which this deposit fills, but at this time (the start of the deposit) this is not clear. The pile of lime plaster in the SE corner revealed by 1026 was not a floor, but rather just a pile of lime, and Kostas removed it whith the present context. Its top elevation was taken on 6/13 though (85.191).

This context is a relatively deep layer of fill. As Kostas has made each pass (3 thus far), he has not been able to identify a cut, which we intially thought was there. Fewer tiles appear in the lower passes than in the upper layer of fill (but still appear), but otherwise the fill is consistent throughout each pass. The fourth pass, once again, included many medium and large angular tile fragments. (KES) It revealed many flat-laying, but not articulated tile fragments in the east end of the context. They appear jumbled, possibly from being dumped there. They do seem to be within a cut mark which cuts the context almost diagonally from SW to NE. The lime concrete floor (Context 1029) along the middle of south wall 929 does appear to continue to th east at the bottom of this context. Patches of white lime are scattered on the exposed level.
