Description:   Top slope of the context is uneven. The soil color is dark greyish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty clay.
Notes:   We opened this context to determine the extent of the underlying yellow clay. We are approaching this excavation exploratorally. The extent of the dark greyish brown clayey silt is not known at the outset of the excavation, but it was recognized on the western ridge left in the excavation of structure 11. At 0.10m under the surface we come down on the yelow clay that was found melted into the rubble and architecture on the north side of the baulk. As we approach the EW wall (structure 110) we come down on what seems to be more worked stone 0.11m below the surface; this masonry in in line with the upper course of stones of that wall, but perhaps also with the NS row of stones that seems to intersect with the EW wall. We come down on more stones in line with the EW wall on the eastern side of the pit. Towards the SW, the excavation extend to the scarp. A broken, worked marble block with anathorosis probably assocaited with this context fell out of the scarp during excavation. 0.40m from the west side of the corner of the scarp, the clay layer we come down on is 0.15m higher than the level to the west. The surface exposed to the east seems to be the same as the surface exposed in the excavation of the last context of team green. On the western limit we come down on some cobbles and boulders, and on the south side, roof riles, all of which are to be associate with the collapse of the structure. We stop excavation to the north and east when it was clear that the clayey layer extended further to the east underneath two other lenses, inlcuding one of red dirt.
