Corinth Basket: Temple E, Southeast, context 200
Collection:   Corinth
Type:   Basket
Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 200
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Title:   General fill N unit 2, room G, 2nd lens from top
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   200
Date:   2014/05/06
Stratum:   Inclusions of stones (mixed but mainy sub-rounded coarse pebbles), tiles, pottery, pipe fragments, and some bone (approximately 10%)
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the NE. The soil color is dark greyish brown. The soil compaction is very soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We decided to remove the second layer of the general fill N of wall 6 and of room G, unit 2. This area has a clear boundary to the S (the previous excavation scarp), to the W (the N-S cut at E 104.30), and somewhat to the N with the steep slope. We are looking for the eastern boundary of this fill and its relation to the pit of context 31.
The second lens has darker earth than above, but the inclusions and compaction of the soil remain similar. There appears to be lighter colored clayey earth surrounding the pit of context 31 that continues downward lying next to this context. We need to remove the clayey earth to further understand its relationship to the general fill of context 200. Some pottery, bone, glass, and iron were collected in this context.
