Stratum:   25% of rounded and spherical coarse pebbles and cobbles; iron fragments; bones
Description:   Top slope of the context is moderate down to the S. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We started excavating fill 257 west of drain capstones 232 because it appeared to cut the surface. The soil was reddish brown and very soft. The deposit was large and had an oval/sub-rounded shape. It is noteworthy that it was approximately 0.2 m thick. The large size, thickness, and softness of this fill suggest that it was not part of a road repair. In the middle of the context we found two large iron blooms and coin 2014-105 was collected from the dry sieve. Unfortunately, for the time being its purpose remains unclear. The removal of deposit 257 revealed a lower surface of a road.
