Stratum:		Color of soil varied from light to medium; inclusions of tiles, sub-rounded and angular pebbles and coarse pebbles, pottery, and bone (approximately 5%)
Description:		Top slope of the context is slight down to the N. The soil color is light greyish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:		We turn our attention to the area N of the wall and reconsider the interface discovered druing the removal of context 250, the general fill S of the 1931/1932 excavation trench. There appears to be a clayey soil depoist sitting on top of a clayey surface that then the soft dark brown earth runs underneath. We then begin removing this clayey deposit as context 288. We soon notice a cut running N-S in a wavy line at approximately E108.0. This cut was only visible after removing the clayey deposit in the area but clearly cuts through the clayey surface underneath. We continue to remove the clayey deposit E of this cut before exploring it further. Some pottery, bone, iron and glass were collected in this context.
